The rehabilitation of a house that is part of a development where the presence of nature is predominant, served as the theme to create a spatiality to respond to a simple functional programme that would nevertheless take advantage of the generous areas to qualify the spaces, incorporating the surrounding outdoor area in order to minimise the impact of the built volumetry.

The intersection of the two units, disposed in perpendicular fashion one above the other, serves to dilute and dematerialise the construction – the roof of the lower volume merges with the garden, resulting in an increase in the accessible green areas. The relation between the house and the garden was emphasised, whilst the privacy of the spaces was ensured with a blind façade to the north, privileging the interior of the plot of land in close communication with the construction. The main access to the house is one level above the ground floor, and it articulates the house’s social areas. Here, the focus was on constantly redefining the interior spaces by creating interconnecting permeable, versatile compartments.

The large glazed areas and the use of discreet window frames promote the intended symbiosis between indoor and outdoor.

On the upper floor the private zones exclusively overlook the garden through a prominent communal veranda. This negative space acts simultaneously as a transition between outdoors and indoors and provides protection from the sun along the entire south-facing façade.

The image of a container of space comes from the relationship between the extensive plans in unmoulded concrete and the wide spans, viewed as continuous transparent surfaces.
The contemporary nature of the spatial and formal solutions adopted contrasts with the rusticity inscribed by the marks of the concrete moulding, which highlights the natural texture of the wood used to make it.
